P. Timothy Gierschick II: Patch and Plot

Nov 6 – 27, 2009

Opening Reception: Fri, Nov 6, 6 –10 pm

PHILADELPHIA – Tiger Strikes Asteroid is pleased to announce the opening of its November exhibition, Patch and Plot, featuring new work by P. Timothy Gierschick II. Gierschick’s work is slow burning. Like Tomma Abts or Thomas Nozkowski, Gierschick patiently works his abstract paintings until they are resolved in a quiet tension. Tim works serially, using specific shapes across a number of paintings, gently pushing and pulling them to discover visual double entendres, rhymes, and spatial ambiguities. His palette is not influenced by Pop, but rather mimics a soft, deliberate speaker. Gierschick holds a BA from Messiah College and has been exhibiting both locally and nationally for several years. His work was recently inThe Strange Place at Alogon Gallery, Chicago, which was accompanied by an essay by James Elkins. His work has been shown at several galleries in Philadelphia such as Gallery Siano, The StrataSphere, and Fleisher-Ollman Gallery.
