PHILADELPHIA- Tiger Strikes Asteroid is pleased to announce the opening of its January exhibition, Unveil, which includes the work of Corey Antis, Ben Pranger, Donna Ruff, Adam Parker Smith, and Hunter Stabler. A profound, inherent mystery lurks behind eachwork in this exhibition. There are no answers- only questions of language, the unknowable, and juxtapositions of humanity with the cosmic. There is a sense of extreme beauty, but it is not always a comfortable path to tread. Corey Antisʼs paintings are psychological reminders of our relationships with space. Adam Parker Smithʼs collages echo the complexity and vulnerability of the universe. Ben Prangerʼs sculptures are generated from a language he developed based on the Biblical book of Revelations. Donna Ruffʼs intricate, code-like installation of drawings are inspired by Islamic Art and Afghani gold art. Hunter Stablerʼs cut paper work is technically mind-blowing and calls attention to a dominating presence or dogma. Collectively, the artists in Unveil have shown their work in L.A., New York, London, Berlin, Rome, Montreal, Paris. Smith and Antis are both hold M.F.A.s from Tyler. Smith attended the Skowhegan School of Art in 2008. Antis is a member of Vox Populi and recently exhibited at the Frieze Art Fair. Pranger has received grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Stabler is a recipient of the Joan Mitchell Fellowship and was named “Philadelphiaʼs next hot artist” by Philadelphia Weekly. Ruff has had residencies at Tamarind Institute and Kunstlerhaus Bethanien, and is a graduate of Rutgers University.
