Ezra Masch: Mind The Gap
May 6 to May 29, 2016
Opening Reception: Friday, May 6th, 6 to 10 PM
Since relocating to NYC in 2015, artist Ezra Masch has been documenting his day-to-day surroundings through drawings and video sketches. The sketches have allowed Masch to sustain a creative practice without access to a studio, but also serve as a catalyst for exploring new territory. For his second solo exhibition at Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Masch will create a multi-channel video installation comprised of footage shot in the New York subway system. Exploring video as a sculptural medium, his work aims to document, imply, and define space through the relationship of multiple moving images.
Masch has been a member of Tiger Strikes Asteroid since 2013. Through his work as an artist and curator, he embraces the gallery space as a site for experimentation and creative risk.
Ezra Masch (b.1982) is an interdisciplinary artist/musician from Philadelphia. His work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions at The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Icebox Project Space, MASS Gallery, Tiger Strikes Asteroid Philadelphia, TSA NY, IPCNY, Whitebox (NYC), The Visual Art Center (Austin, TX), and Galleria L’Acquario (Rome, Italy). He received a BFA in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design (2004) and an MFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin (2012). Masch also attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2011). He currently lives and works in New York City.
