Tiger Strikes Asteroid New York is please to present TACTICAL DISPOSITIONS, a solo exhibition of sculpture, installation, video, and digital imagery by Eugene Macki. Borrowing its title from The Art of War by Sun Tzu Chapter 4: Tactical Dispositions. The Art of War is an ancient text that consists of 13 chapters. Each one is dedicated to a distinct set of skills or art that relate to warfare and how it can be applied to military strategy and tactics. The framework of the exhibition considers the systems of objects, modes of production, and the act of performance. Macki utilizes an experimental approach while trying to alter or breakdown conventions. A new collection of artworks has been created for the gallery and a separate collection for Instagram. Each was influenced by Sun Tzu, jazz, and the works of other writers and philosophers.
