Tiger Strikes Asteroid Greenville (TSA GVL) is proud to present There Just Isn’t opening January 6 at the TSA GVL gallery.  This exhibition, features works by Dan Bare, Colleen Toutant Merrill, Kate Nartker, Amy Sacksteder, and A. Sherwood. There Just Isn’t addresses the reality that parenting is a complex endeavor to say the least in which one parent inevitably compromises more than the other. Statistically, mothers have borne the brunt of this shift in autonomy, but as society evolves, so do the dynamics of parent/caregiver stereotypes thus leading to a shift in who faces compromise. As artist-parents, how does that compromise extend to our studio practices? There Just Isn’t answers this question through compelling and diverse works of textiles, video, ceramics, sculpture, and written word.
