Jasmine Best: Buried the Roots for Now

Sep 13 - Oct 5, 2024

Opening Reception: Sep 21, 2024 6 - 9pm

Tiger Strikes Asteroid Greenville (TSA GVL) artist collective is excited to present our next exhibition, Buried the Roots for Now, a solo show of works by artist Jasmine Best. The exhibition runs September 13 - October 5th at our gallery located in Hampton Station, Greenville, SC.  Buried the Roots for Now explores the connections between the past and present, emphasizing how historical forms of resistance and survival can provide tools for addressing contemporary challenges. The exhibition draws from the folklore and rich histories of African Americans in the South, embracing the narrative power of quilts, brooms, and banjos through time. Best offers a perspective on what it means to be a Southern artist, using the excavation of the past to guide us in the present.

This exhibition is curated by Carmen Bunche with assistance from Michael Webster and Kevin Kao.
