Tiger Strikes Asteroid Chicago is very pleased to present the performance series, Love Us Or Leave Us Alone, featuring Fontaine Capel, Kalup Linzy, Emilio Rojas, and Sadie Woods. For Love Us Or Leave Us Alone, the performative works turn towards affect to acknowledge the buried emotions or haunted feelings about psychic and physical violence wrought by our living environment, migration, entangled personal relationships or social oppression. Each performance is an act of affective engagement, a plea for visibility or embodied awareness of the personal intensity of subjugation. Such feelings will not be suppressed, quieted or muted. They will, however, eschew the trap of negativity to generate, instead, spaces for empathy and potentiality. This performance series does not profess to know how to dismantle systems of oppression or correct social interactions gone wrong. Rather, it promotes radical aspirations for culture building that support understanding and uncomfortableness, decency and difference.
